RBI first introduced the 5 rupee coin in 1992.But now RBI has stopped making them.Actually there are 2 reasons for this...<br />1. Heavy weight and high manufacturing cost.<br />Before 2009, 5 rupee coins were generally made from cupro nickel and ferritic stainless steel, which were heavier than today's nickel brass 5 rupee coins and also cost more to make them.<br />2.
